Tea Party Appeal to Democrats

The Richmond Times Dispatch ran an Op-Ed today from a Tea Part y member that is worth a read. Personally, I think the article should have started out with more criticism against the Republican Party (and there are plenty of things to complain about) in order to form a bond with the intended audience, but the article does make a lot of good points. We need to realize that the battle is no longer Republican vs. Democrat, it is Liberty vs. Progressive.

The problem with the Progressive movement is that it looks towards a central government to solve all problems. In order to even think about solving these problems, it must take away power from the People.  Once they have taken away the power, we are no longer truly free and it becomes all too easy for that centralized power to be abused. Perhaps it will not be abused immediately, but history demonstrates that centralized power always corrupts and it is only a matter of time before a truly evil person takes control. The real purpose of the Tea Party / 912 / Patriot movement is to encourage people to learn history so that we recognize the dangers associated with centralized control. If we do not fix these problems quickly, I am concerned that the financial hole that we have created will create a crisis situation that will result in that type of evil government.
